Neither team has formally announced their starting pitchers for Wednesday. At press time, we know that Chris Sale will start Tuesday’s opener for Boston; manager Alex Cora has said that David Price (3.58 ERA) will “probably” start Game 2. The Dodgers have yet to assign any pitchers for this series, and have some decisions to make after using Clayton Kershaw in relief during Saturday’s Game 7 NLCS victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
These two teams didn’t get a chance to play each other during the regular season, but Price is familiar with two LA batters in particular – and the numbers aren’t good. Manny Machado (formerly with Baltimore) is 12-for-41 lifetime off Price with five home runs and a 1.024 OPS; Brian Dozier (formerly with Minnesota) is 9-for-39 with a pair of homers and a .743 OPS.
