Politics Odds: Oprah Winfrey +120 to Run for President. Oprah Winfrey gave an impassioned speech at last week’s Golden Globes Awards show, promising that a “new day is on the horizon.” Does this mean the media giant is going to run for President in 2020? Winfrey is a slight +120 underdog at Bovada to throw her hat in the ring, but she’s certainly getting a strong push from her supporters. “Nothing but respect for OUR future president,” NBC tweeted after Winfrey’s speech.
Winfrey has reportedly told friends that she’s seriously thinking about a presidential bid – presumably for the Democratic Party, in an effort to oust Donald Trump in 2020. In theory, Winfrey could run for any party; At Bovada the bet will pay out as long as she’s a listed candidate on the voting ballot. But Winfrey is a registered Democrat, and was a strong supporter of President Barack Obama.
There will be less incentive for Winfrey to run if Trump leaves the Oval Office first. Despite the ongoing Russia investigation, Trump is an even-money pick to remain in office until 2020. Trump is also available at +250 to exit the White House sometime in 2018, which could happen if the Democrats prevail in the mid-terms and speed up the impeachment process.
