The Los Angeles Lakers continue to hold court in the Western Conference. The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to gain some traction in the East. They’ll meet Tuesday night at Staples, tipping off at 10 PM ET on TNT. The Lakers will be out for revenge after falling 108-91 to the Sixers (+5.5 at home) on January 25.
With a five-game lead in the West and two months left to go before the playoffs, the Lakers look every much like the team to beat. They’re +225 favorites at Bovada at press time to win the title. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both playing at just below MVP level, and LA appears to have all the necessary role players surrounding their two superstars. They even added to their depth by signing power forward Markieff Morris (bought out by Detroit) for the rest of the season.
The Sixers (+2800) are still trying to develop the right chemistry around Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, but that project is on hold now that Simmons is out with a nerve impingement in his lower back. He’s due to be re-evaluated in two weeks. Shake Milton is starting in his place, with Alec Burks coming off the bench.
